Graphic Designer

“Mildly terrifying, but I’ve never looked back”

I haven’t always been a Designer. Before becoming one, I worked in London as an Assistant Buyer for fashion retail, and in Manchester as a Product Developer. Both great jobs I really enjoyed – and where I gained invaluable experience – but I always felt I wanted to do something more creative (I originally did an Art Foundation after my A-levels). So I decided to retrain as a Graphic Designer at Shillington College on a 3-month full time (and very intensive!) course.

Before I started the course, I didn’t even know how to turn a Mac on, so it was a very steep learning curve for me. When I finished, I had the skills and confidence to get a number of placements, eventually getting a 3-month internship at an agency in Manchester. After my placement I was offered a full time job and worked there for 4 years, before moving to Parker.

I’m so glad I decided to change careers, even though it was mildly terrifying at the time. I love working in a creative role and enjoy the challenge of working for a variety of clients on a wide range of briefs.

In my spare time, I’m a bit of a film geek, enjoy working out, socialising, and when I get chance, I love a big walk in the countryside – North Wales is my absolute favourite for fresh air and beautiful scenery.
