Sam has been with Parker Design since 2009 and became our Digital Director in 2015. With 20 years’ project management experience, Sam specialises in successfully guiding projects from briefing to completion – through an agile approach and hands-on strategy.
Sam has built and managed several successful teams both agency and client side. Including his consultancy and management experience, Sam has worked as Graphic Designer, Web Designer, Web Developer, Web Manager, Creative Director and Digital Director.
Working with clients from startups to blue chip companies, in the education, finance, legal, pharmaceutical and technology sectors, Sam’s hands-on experience allows him to manage the seamless integration of both creative and technology to benefit clients and ensure projects are implemented successfully.
Sam’s clients include several Universities (Cambridge, Cardiff, Chester) as well as global corporations such as AstraZeneca, Thomson Reuters and Santander. Other clients include MedImmune, The Shipowners’ Club, N8 Research Partnership, Home Bargains, Soroptimist International, Unipart Consumer Logistics and Tysers, to name but a few.
At Parker Design, Sam is responsible for ensuring that clients and teams are up to date on the latest processes and technologies, with a keen focus on functionality. Aware that Digital has become a priority for those at the very highest level of corporate leadership, Sam’s key message is that, for the digital age, businesses don’t need a digital strategy – but a business strategy for the digital age.
Growing up, Sam was – in his own words – a ‘technology tinker’, starting off programming with the Sinclair ZX81 through the Atari 2600, BBC Micro, Commodore 64, early PCs, via anything else he could lay his hands on. A few years later, Sam continued to feed his appetite for all things design and technology at the University of Liverpool, where he studied Fine Art with Computer Science and Information Technology.
Outside of work Sam recently built and wired his own house, project managing the whole process. His real hobby is music and he’s run his own DJ night now for 12 years, where they bring brilliant bands and artists to play live, whilst Sam gets invited to DJ around the country. His other passions include photography, walking and dreaming of the day that Sunderland Football Club wins something – anything!
