Challenge
Every year, the show is an opportunity for Conduent to showcase their latest innovative technologies, conceived to enhance the travelling experience. For this show, and with our client focused on sustainability, we were asked to repurpose the modular expo stand they had used the previous year – also designed by our team.
Part of the challenge this time was to strike the perfect balance between delivering a sustainable stand – where we would be reusing as many existing elements as possible – and making room to incorporate our client’s new brand, launched a few months before the show.
The modular expo stand would also have to showcase two ticketing validator products and Conduent’s 3D Fare Gate solution, our client’s hero product and a late addition to the planning of the stand design.
Using innovative 3D detection optical sensors, the 3D Fare Gate solution allows fast and convenient access for travellers while detecting and deterring ticketing fraud. The technology also offers reporting and analytics that will ultimately feed into transport authorities’ decisions.
The solution has been named a Ticketing Technology of the Year Finalist at the 2023 Transport Ticketing Awards.
Solution
With a relatively small 6m x 4m island plot, open on all sides, we adapted the existing design to fit a fully working model of the 3D Fare Gate. Despite the small size of the plot, its strategic position next to the catering area and main thoroughfare contributed to high footfall.
The 3D Fare Gate, shipped from France and assembled on site, allowed the Conduent team to demonstrate the heat sensor technology
and prove how much money transport companies can save by being able to identify fare dodgers.
The layout allows delegates to move freely through the stand, with enough space to demonstrate how the 3D Gate works – we allocated a 500Kw socket to ensure the smooth running of the Gate. The technical configuration also takes account of a WiFi zone offering free Internet access for up to 10 concurrent users.
The stand includes a semi informal meeting area with a tall bench table and high seating, where the Conduent team could host pre-arranged meetings. A 32” screen playing product videos on loop attracted the attention of passers-by, enticing them in to start a conversation.
A reception/welcome counter, also used to serve fresh coffee and refreshments, sits on the corner of a platform installed 40mm above the floor and neatly houses the 3D Gate’s associated drivers. Next to it, a plinth stand displays a QR code linking to product information on our client’s website, and there’s also enough surface space for product brochures, catering for delegates who may prefer printed literature. The stand also includes a lockable storage room to keep the team’s personal belongings secure.
A striking lightbox graphic commands attention from all corners of the exhibition hall, whilst a printed wall graphic lists some of Conduent’s areas of expertise in an uncomplicated yet effective manner.
All the stand components are now safely in storage ready to be repurposed for the 2024 show, which Conduent will be sponsoring.
