Before: a tired retail space. After: a fresh and welcoming retail branding design that is full of impact, creating an immediate connection with customers.

Background

With over 40 years’ experience, TUI Crystal Ski Holidays is the UK and Ireland’s leader in the sector. Crystal Ski Holidays is part of TUI, the world’s number one tourism group.

Crystal Ski Holidays has a number of Snow Centres in the UK, offering customers everything they need to ski. Their indoor ski slopes are supplied with fresh snow every day, allowing customers to ski, snowboard and sledge. With qualified instructors at every site, Crystal Ski customers can either learn the ropes if they’re new to snow or sharpen their skills before they’re next on the slopes.

Challenge

On the back of the success of the new office branding ideas we had applied to transform one of their flagship offices, we were approached by one of their Snow Centres to bring a new lease of life to its busy customer-facing area with a refresh of the retail branding design, which was suffering from a bit of wear and tear.

One of the main challenges when it came to making it look smarter was that Crystal Ski Holidays doesn’t own this particular retail space, so the retail branding design could not impact the existing structure or use any permanent fixtures; this would make the process as easy and smooth as possible should they decide to move to new premises.

Solution

Following an inspection of the space, we shortlisted the most appropriate fixing methods to use in case of a move in the future.

We surface mounted an impactful wall graphic to the existing wooden slat wall: a beautiful shot from our client’s library that creates an immediate connection with customers approaching the space.

With the existing reception desk having to stay, we clad the front and sides with fully branded printed panels made from hard-wearing rigid materials and protected them by applying an anti-scuff and anti-graffiti laminate. We then applied a full vinyl wrap to the countertop using extremely tough vehicle grade vinyl to give it a fresh lease of life, without having to impact any structural elements. The Crystal Ski Holidays logo on the front of the desk is bigger and brighter than before, acting as a beacon against the acqua background.

The imposing wall graphic behind the desk is branded with a cut-out logo that gives it an embossed, premium feel.
