Flash application

The Communications Team had an online calendar that was both hard to follow and had to be updated by a professional Flash developer. Parker Design were given the job of designing and producing a more visually appealing Flash application which was easy to update by anyone in the team via a simple online content management system.

The original Flash application was circular, which meant there was very little room for events near the centre. With this in mind we reverted to a more conventional rectangular design with a clean, fresh layout.

We wanted to develop a calendar that would be useful for a number of years so the interactive Flash application was designed to display multiple years and up to seven horizontal sections within each year. The colour and titles of these sections are editable, along with the ability to add, edit and remove events within these sections and change the main title of the calendar, all from within a WordPress content management system.

The user can click on a quarter, month and section to expand it to reveal more information, or click on an event title to display a pop-up of that event. Click on the year at the top left to return to the full year view. Arrows will appear next to the year if there are other years to view. There is also a print button at the top right that will print the current visible view.
