Jacobs
Hybrid exhibition stand
An evolution of a successful approach, this time the stand we delivered for Jacobs at Passenger Terminal Expo in Madrid built on insights gathered from the previous year’s event. Designed to balance premium presence with practicality and budget, the stand combined modular efficiency with bespoke detail to deliver an enhanced visitor experience.
Visibility
Jacobs delivers solutions for some of the world’s most complex challenges. With 45,000 staff globally, Jacobs provides end-to-end services across advanced manufacturing, cities and places, energy, environment, life sciences, transportation and water. From advisory and consulting to design, delivery and lifecycle management, their work helps shape a more connected, sustainable future.
Returning to Passenger Terminal Expo following a successful presence in Frankfurt, Jacobs aimed to reinforce its visibility and reputation within the aviation and transport infrastructure sector with an exhibition stand that reflected both its service focus and forward-thinking identity.
Having delivered a well-received exhibition stand the previous year – one that emphasised informal meetings and varied seating – Jacobs wanted to evolve the stand design whilst maintaining a welcoming feel that encouraged meaningful interaction, all within a smaller footprint and a fixed budget. A commanding presence across the busy exhibition hall and strong visibility were also a priority.
Finessed, not reimagined
We approached the project with a mindset of refinement rather than reinvention. Drawing on post-show insights from the previous year, we developed a hybrid exhibition stand: a modular structural base enhanced with bespoke features that translated into high-impact upgrades while staying cost-effective.
Design and functionality upgrades
We focused on a number of upgrades to improve visibility, consistency and user experience:
- A fully illuminated hanging banner for visibility across the hall
- A 1.5 x 2.5 metre LED tile wall replacing the previous two 42-inch screens
- Illuminated Jacobs logos, including rig-suspended lightboxes
- Integrated backlit wall panels for a unified, high-end finish
We reworked the layout to support natural visitor flow. High-traffic movement from multiple surrounding aisles informed the placement of the café area, which acted as both a draw and an informal meeting point, with the absence of stools encouraging quicker, higher-volume interactions. For more focused, formal conversations delegates were drawn to with two comfortable sofas in a carpeted area.
Flooring played a strategic role. The contrasting finishes we chose – wood-effect vinyl and soft carpet – subtly guided delegate behaviour: one signalling openness and speed, the other comfort and engagement. The addition of planting helped soften the visual environment, creating a more relaxed, service-oriented atmosphere.
We also considered functionality behind the scenes, with a lockable storage room providing secure space for personal items, a laptop charging station and a fridge.
Partnering with our trusted catering supplier, we also delivered a full barista service – a high-quality experience with a sense of theatre that reinforced Jacobs’ reputation for thoughtful and precision-led delivery.
A confident stand that delivered on every level
The hybrid exhibition stand delivered a confident, high-performing space tailored to both brand and audience.
From impactful illuminated branding to carefully planned seating and circulation, we considered every detail to enhance visibility, support connection and maximise return on presence. The final stand felt more refined, more functional and more aligned with Jacobs’ service ethos, all without exceeding budget or footprint.
“Special thanks to you both Simon Hallows and Darren Endicott for constructing and designing an incredible booth for us this year at Passenger Terminal Expo & Conference. We had endless comments on how well it worked and looked!! Even from competitors.
Especially worthwhile this year was the two couch seating areas: we were able to have hour-long meetings with our clients at the same time while not talking over one another. The LED panel wall was AMAZING! Lots of good comments on that, very impressive, and the lit rigging was great. Thanks again for everything, you both are wonderful!”
