Volunteer recruitment campaign

Approached by Cambridge Scouts, we were tasked with developing a volunteer recruitment campaign to attract leaders for different local scout groups for different local scout groups, primarily using targeted social media.

Exploring possibility

Our volunteer recruitment campaign, created specifically for the older Explorer group (ages ranging between 14 and 18), seeks volunteer leaders to support, guide and inspire young people to look ahead and focus on their future careers, whether through further education or entering the workforce directly.

The right voice

The tone of voice for Scouts is personal, relatable and conversational. It emphasises writing like you speak, using everyday language and grounded phrases. ​The aim is to make the content more approachable and engaging, highlighting real-life examples and details. ​The tone is also designed to surprise and challenge outdated perceptions of Scouts, showcasing a modern, diverse and inclusive organisation. ​The focus is on being concise, inspiring and making a local connection to engage parents, volunteers and young people.

We did our thing, to help scouts do their thing

To create an engaging and impactful presence on social media, we developed a fast-paced 30-second video as part of the volunteer recruitment campaign. The video highlights Scouts’ potential aspirations across diverse career paths and life opportunities. Featuring dynamic scrolling imagery, inspiring stills, on-brand graphics, and career descriptions set to an energetic soundtrack, the video showcased the invaluable contributions of volunteers while encouraging Scout Explorers to consider their future goals.

A strong call to action was vital, appealing to volunteers to be themselves and do what they do best, to help the Scouts Explorers figure out what they do best.

The concept offered great versatility, allowing for an extensive range of career options to be integrated into both video and print formats, all centred around the same core idea. By utilising provided stills, we successfully produced a custom video on a tight budget and within a short timeframe.
