Charity brochure design

Immersing ourselves in the local area, this charity brochure design became a manifesto for what Cambridge Past, Present & Future work hard to achieve.

Background

Cambridge Past, Present & Future is an independent charity that receives no funds from the government or the local council. Instead, they have to rely on the support of members, supporters, volunteers, trustees and benefactors to protect and celebrate the green landscapes and historic buildings of Cambridge. As well as celebrating the area’s past and heritage, our client also actively works to influence what the future will look like by acquiring land and developing it in a way that respects the essence of Cambridge, a city steeped in history and tradition.

Challenge

The conversation with our client started with them approaching us to produce a 1-page document that would help them communicate their strategy to key donors. After discussing different options, we arrived at an alternative solution, a much stronger piece of communications to get across their message and attract donations: a brochure that they could use as a leave-behind at meetings and which could also be shared digitally, maximising reach and the allocated budget.

Solution

With our client having a strong creative appetite, we took an existing PowerPoint presentation as our source material and developed a full communications strategy, with the brochure we delivered acting as a manifesto.

Charity brochure design

Our copywriter fully immersed himself in the world of Cambridge Past, Present & Future by meeting our client in the local area and visiting some of the land and property they own. The experience resulted in a new strategic angle and a new tone of voice that’s honest and direct and generates immediate attention and appeal.

Charity brochure design

The brochure design follows a traditional approach that is faithful to the sentiment behind the charity’s efforts. Feeding from our client’s image library, where quite a few of the photographs had not been taken by a professional photographer, we curated a selection of beautiful and powerful images, despite being constrained by the number of photographs with high enough resolution to be used in a printed document.

A digital version of the charity brochure design maximised our client’s fundraising efforts.

“Parker were very good at listening to all our requirements and guided us through the stages of developing a new brand strategy and updating our messaging. The resulting brochure will invigorate our cultivation with major donors and allow us to refresh our fundraising across all our channels.”
