AstraZeneca
Brochure design and printing
For this high-profile brochure design and printing project we designed a stunning coffee table brochure to celebrate AstraZeneca’s half centenary on site at Alderley Park.
Background
Alderley Park – a site between Macclesfield and Knutsford in the heart of Cheshire, so rich in history and heritage that it is mentioned in the Domesday Book.
Challenge
With so many stories to tell about the stunning site itself and how our client had maximised its possibilities, AstraZeneca wanted to embark on a brochure design and printing exercise that would help chart in detail both the history and also the development of the site since the company acquired it back in 1950.
Solution
For the design of this brochure, we worked very closely with an AstraZeneca employee who was also an avid local historian, and we compiled a rich source of stories and historical photographs of the site.
To balance the nostalgic and yesteryear feel of the research, we spent three days on site photographing the more recent landmark buildings as well as the beautiful manicured grounds.
As part of this brochure design project, we also commissioned a specialist aerial photographer to capture a selection of stunning new images of the entire estate.
When shown next to a similar shot taken back in the early 1950s, the ‘before and after’ approach of the brochure not only helps demonstrate the significant investment in the site during AstraZeneca’s ownership, but also the careful and conscientious management of the estate.
“Working with Parker Design is a real pleasure. Nothing’s too much trouble and ‘going the extra mile’ is part of the service.
For this brochure design and printing project, they were pro-active, provided creative solutions, and did whatever was needed to meet our tight deadlines and work within the agreed budget, to produce a beautiful, premium quality product.
I’d recommend the team at Parker Design to anyone who’s after beautiful design that really delivers.”
To complement the stories and photographs, we designed a graphical timeline depicting key dates and events throughout history. The completed brochure design and printing finishes used exude a quality and stature fitting to a site of such historical and modern day importance.
