White Paper – The Science Behind High-Performing Exhibition Stands – Why did we write it?

Every year, organisations invest significant time and budget in exhibitions. They brief agencies, refine exhibition stand concepts, and discuss everything from layouts and graphics to technology and visitor experiences.

But throughout those conversations, one question often gets overlooked – “How will we know whether the stand has been successful?”

Too often, success is judged by appearance rather than outcomes. Did the stand look good? Was it busy? Did people like it? Those are of course very encouraging signs, but none of them tells you whether your exhibition delivered a worthwhile return.

Measure of success

At Parker Design, after more than 30 years designing and building exhibition stands, we’ve seen first-hand that the most successful projects begin with a different conversation. Before discussing stand size, technology or finishes, it’s worth defining what success actually looks like, how return on investment is measured:

  • Should the stand generate a specific number of qualified leads?
  • Should it increase dwell time?
  • Maybe support product demonstrations?
  • Should the stand function as a stage to strengthen relationships with existing customers, or meet new prospects?
  • Should it function as a platform to launch a new product?

The end goal comes first

Sometimes a stand needs to support one of those objectives; other times it needs to support several, or all of them. Defining those objectives from the outset ensures every exhibition design decision contributes towards achieving the desired return on investment.

That’s the thinking behind our exhibition white paper – The Science Behind High-Performing Exhibition Stands.

The evidence behind better ROI

Rather than focusing on trends or creative ideas, the white paper brings together research from leading exhibition industry bodies and combines it with our own experience to explore the factors that genuinely influence exhibition performance.

Inside, you’ll discover the research behind visitor behaviour, exhibition ROI, stand design, hospitality, technology, lead generation and performance measurement, helping you make more informed decisions before your next event.

For the third consecutive year, we partnered with Pascall+Watson to exhibit at Passenger Terminal Expo. This time the result was a high-impact hybrid stand design that delivered a refined, future-facing visitor experience.

Returning to Transport Ticketing Global, Conduent commissioned a further evolution of the sustainable stand design we had previously developed for the event. Rather than creating a new exhibition stand, we refined the existing concept, demonstrating how an adaptable design can continue to deliver value from one event to the next.
