To maximise our client’s investment in the report booklet in the long term, we created a template-based design to make the process quicker, easier and cost-effective in later editions.
The digital ECMT (Experimental Cancer Medicine Team) is a clinical digital research group that brings technology, clinicians, researchers and patients together to innovate in early clinical trials.
Established in 2016, the group forms part of Professor Caroline Dive’s Cancer Biomarker Centre within the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute, part of The University of Manchester. The research group is also aligned to the Experimental Cancer Medicine Team at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.
To completely overhaul the design of their existing annual report booklet which, although a highly effective communications tool in the past, now needed a cleaner and fresher design.
To maximise our client’s investment in the report in the long term, we created a template-based design to make the process quicker, easier and therefore highly cost-effective in later editions, both for our client and our design team.
Still very much a reporting tool, the new design gives the booklet a magazine look and feel that makes for a highly engaging experience for the target audience.
We redesigned charts provided by our client and included infographic-style elements within the design to help communicate complex processes.
We also provided our client with a standalone version of the Research themes wheel illustration above for inclusion in PowerPoint presentations.
“Many thanks for sending through. It looks great!
We really like the ‘Research themes’ diagram, really love the colour-coding of our digital clinical trial names, and co-ordination of quote boxes.”
With lots of information to fit in, we laid out the report booklet leaving plenty of white space for copy to breathe, and used blocks of prominent colour to highlight individuals’ testimonials.
In total, we printed 100 copies of the 32-page A5 report booklet, and also provided a digital version which can be downloaded from our client’s website.
